Health Canada Admits Legalizing Hard Drugs Was a Failed Experiment

According to a report by Anthony Murdoch in Life Site News, Canada’s Health Department has admitted that the Trudeau-era trial of allowing hard drug consumption was a disaster and led to a complete breakdown of public order in some locations.
British Columbia was particularly hard hit with some parts of downtown Vancouver including school playgrounds and hospitals becoming unsafe ‘no go’ areas. In response, several municipalities and Indigenous communities have declared states of emergency, calling for action from all orders of government.
The three-year pilot legalizing small quantities of hard drugs such as crack, regular cocaine, and heroin ended January 31, 2025 and will not be renewed.
Records show that the Liberal government has spent approximately $820 million from 2017 to 2022 on its Canadian Drugs and Substances Strategy. However, the Department of Health admitted, right back in a 2023 report that the Liberals’ drug program only had “minimal” results, was a failure and “didn’t work.”
Once again, the lesson for us should be not to allow policies and ‘experiments’ that impact public health and wellbeing when they are so obviously flawed. While most of us thought at the time that it was a reckless policy, we obviously did not make our voices heard sufficiently, and we must remember that next time.
