Executive Director’s Message
Well here we are in the middle of the Easter long weekend.
Over the last decade or so, the meaning and significance of Christian holidays here in Canada have been slowly muddied and eroded to the point where now it is all about commercialism and the sales that can be leveraged from these ancient religious festivals. Sadly, for most people nowadays, Easter is just a day or two off work and eating as much cheap chocolate as possible!
This year, for the first time ever, King Charles, who is supposed to be the “Defender of the Faith”, didn’t even bother to issue an Easter Message to the People of the Commonwealth, which is ironic considering he has never missed any of his Eid messages!
As we appreciate the depth of this systemic abandonment of Christian morals – and how it seems to be accelerating, we can understandably feel a bit lost and hopeless. And I believe that sense of hopelessness is actually the intention behind it all.
When we lose hope, we lose the motivation to keep going and simply succumb to anything that will numb the pain. We lose our ability to see a better future, we lose our motivation and our inclination to even try to make things better. Hopelessness sucks away our soul. This makes it one of the most powerful means of subjugation, as modern dictators and dictatorships have learned so well.
And, as I have said before, Easter is actually a great reminder of the power of faith and hope.
When Jesus was crucified, likely exactly two thousand years ago yesterday, his followers were completely confused and utterly hopeless. Their Messiah had been ‘killed by man’ and they, the last few disciples, were being hunted and targeted by the might of Rome.
There was literally no hope at all. Yet within just three days, Jesus rose from the dead and those scattered few believers would go on to establish a church that now has almost 2.4 billion followers. All this grew out of that moment of darkest, bleakest hopelessness.
The lesson we can take from Easter today is that, no matter how hopeless things might seem, if we are on God’s side, he won’t abandon us and things can always turn around for the better.
When we look at the world we’re living in, we are facing so many existential threats that it seems as if there is no way humanity can survive. We have the threat of AI, the threat of pervasive omnipresent wireless radiation, the poisoning of the water and the soil, the failure of the food chain, wholesale child sacrifice and the threat of nuclear warfare… We are even told to worry about the zombie apocalypse and the imminent arrival of hungry aliens!
Yes, as Easter teaches us, we can get through it all and see a brighter, better and healthier future just up ahead. As it says in the Book of Jeremiah, chapter 19, verse 11, “…I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Yes, with hope we will have a future, and it is our suffering that helps us find hope, because suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. It is all part of our journey, our learning and our eventual betterment. Having thought about this for a while, I believe keeping hope alive and helping those around us are the reasons why we are actually here.
I also don’t think a little bit of good quality dark chocolate along the way will do too much harm either!
Have a very Happy and Hope-filled Easter.
Sincerely,
Alan Brough
CHA Executive Director – alan.brough@canadahealthalliance.org
Quote of the Week
“The government is too big:
Since 2020, government jobs have grown at more than triple the rate of private-sector jobs. We have 300,000 more bureaucrats than the OECD average, paid for by you. The bigger the government, the less freedom and money left in our pockets we have.
The deficit and the debt are unsustainable:
After ten consecutive years of reckless deficit spending, our national debt more than doubled to $1.26 trillion. It took 148 years to create a national debt of $635 billion, and only 10 years to double it. The annual interest payments alone will reach $55.6 billion this year. This exceeds federal health transfers to provinces…”
Canadian politician and leader of the People’s Party of Canada, Mr. Max Bernier
Wins of the Week
This week we have been through the usual whiplash of ‘Breaking News,’ much of it shocking and jaw-dropping. However, as always there is the steady stream of quiet, unsung wins happening provincially, nationally and internationally which collectively are all slowly but surely pulling back the pendulum of radicalism. Here are just a few of them…
- Before we start with our local provincial and Canadian wins as we usually do, I have to tell you about this one, which I think is definitely the BIG Win of the Week: On Thursday, Pfizer and BioNTech announced that they have halted a large U.S. clinical trial for their updated Covid-19 booster injection. The reason: Because they could not find enough participants willing to take another mRNA shot! The study, targeting healthy adults aged 50–64, given the stricter CDC and FDA research requirements, required tens of thousands of participants. Despite this, enrolment failed, confirming that public demand for Covid boosters has completely collapsed. A recent Rasmussen survey found that 56% of Americans believe the Covid-19 vaccines have caused large numbers of deaths, and that percentage is growing all the time. Consequently, real-world uptake has collapsed—only about 18% of Americans received a booster during the 2025–2026 season. According to Nicolas Hulscher, “Those seeking their 6th booster are now either dead, disabled or have finally woken up to reality. The era of mass booster compliance is over.” You can read more about this at: https://www.thefocalpoints.com/p/pfizer-halts-covid-shot-trial-because
- The Alberta government has introduced a bill to ban ideology in classrooms, prevent the flying of political flags at schools and mandate that students hear the national anthem every week. The proposed Bill 25, titled An Act to Remove Politics and Ideology from Classrooms and Amend the Education Act, 2026, would require classroom instruction to remain neutral and balanced, with students exposed to a range of perspectives as part of developing their own understanding of issues. “Schools should be focused on teaching kids how to think, not what to think,” said Alberta Premier Danielle Smith.
- Still in Alberta, it was announced earlier this week that the public petition for an independence referendum in Alberta has reached their target threshold and, as a result, Alberta will be voting on Independence on October 19th. This is certainly not a win for national unity, and I debated whether to include it or not. However, I decided it was worth sharing, as the win lies in the fact that it demonstrates that concerted and united public pressure can actually influence and change the political systems we all usually feel powerless against. This petition in Alberta has been organized by a citizen grassroots movement of almost 10,000 volunteers, and even now it has no political party behind it and it doesn’t even have a formal leader to represent it! Yet, they seem to be successfully taking on the might of Ottawa. This is a good lesson and an inspirational example for the rest of us!
- Earlier this week, Canadian cattle farmers and the Canadian Cattle Association said a definitive “No” to Digital ID for cows which would create a de facto digital ID system for the whole commercial agricultural sector. Seen as a trial-run for Digital ID for humans, this industry rejection is an important start to what will no doubt be a long drawn out fight with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) who (of course) are behind this ominous initiative.
- Earlier this month, the FDA launched a new AI-powered platform called the Adverse Event Monitoring System (AEMS), which is designed to track side effects from drugs, vaccines, cosmetics, and other products in one place, and in real time! The ‘AEMS’ lets you see drug and vaccine side effects in real time – literally as they are happening, giving you faster access to safety information before panicking or making health decisions. It avoids the complex, time-consuming processes of previous systems and it consolidates millions of reports that were once scattered across multiple databases, making it easier for you to identify patterns and spot recurring side effects. Increased reporting in the new system will reflect better visibility — not more harm — allowing you to evaluate products based on more complete and accurate data. Finally, it will also empower people to take a more active role in their health by checking reported side effects, tracking their own reactions and, eventually, contributing reports to improve overall transparency. You can read the full report on this remarkable technology and how it will improve health monitoring and improve the speed of diagnosis on Dr. Mercola’s substack at: https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2026/03/30/fda-adverse-event-monitoring-system.aspx We would like to thank Jim for sharing this with us.
- In a great, and long overdue move to help improve the health and recovery of hospital patients in the United States, US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is asking hospitals to use his revamped food pyramid to redo their food menus offered to patients, regulators announced on Monday. As a result, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services sent a memo to hospitals asking them to limit ultra-processed food options for patients. Instead, the agency wants hospitals to serve whole grains, eliminate sugary drinks and ensure meals have less than 10 grams of added sugar. “The food is bland, it’s poorly prepared, it’s lacking nutrients of the nature you actually need for a full recovery,” CMS Administrator Dr. Oz said. This is definitely something we need in our hospitals here in Canada.
- In a stark regulatory reprimand, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has accused pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk of “serious violations” for failing to report severe and fatal side effects, including strokes, suicidal ideation and patient deaths, linked to its popular diabetes and weight-loss drugs Ozempic, Wegovy and Saxenda. The formal warning letter, issued on March 5, reveals systemic failures in the company’s safety monitoring, raising urgent questions about the transparency and rigour of the post-market surveillance system that millions of patients rely on for protection. Perhaps most damning is the FDA’s conclusion that these were not one-off mistakes. The agency stated the violations “suggest systemic failures” in how Novo Nordisk handles safety data from start to finish. The FDA found the company’s response lacked sufficient detail to ensure the problems would be fixed, prompting the formal warning letter, one of the agency’s strongest enforcement tools short of litigation. Novo Nordisk now has 15 working days to provide a comprehensive corrective plan. Thanks to Ted for sharing this, and the next two wins with us.
- In a recent poll, 60% of Americans agreed with a “proposal ending all immunity for drug companies when their vaccines cause injuries.” People who disagreed amounted to 27.5%. That means support for restoring legal accountability exceeds opposition by more than 30%. Importantly, this sentiment cuts across age groups, communities, and political affiliations. Many Americans who may disagree on other issues are finding common ground around the principle that vaccine safety, transparency, and fairness should be on a par with all other medical products.
- After a Supreme Court Ruling, a School Board in Maryland has been ordered to pay $1.5M to parents who weren’t allowed to pull their kids out of an LGBT story time. We can expect this ruling to be precedent setting and will trigger many other similar lawsuits to follow as people realize that this amounts to little more than forced indoctrination.
- A win for the United States was revealed in an Epoch Time report last weekend that confirmed that the Trump administration’s border crackdown is slowing the flow of deadly drugs into the United States to the point that cartel profits have plummeted. Sara Carter, director of the National Drug Control Policy said, “We’ve seen a decrease in fentanyl coming into our country of around 56 to 57%, which is phenomenal.” Hopefully, over time, the drop in availability in the US will lead to a drop here in Canada as well.
- In a completely unexpected and uncharacteristic move, earlier this week, the European Parliament voted to adopt the so called ‘Returns Resolution.’ This vote that was carefully coordinated by centrist and right-leaning parties across Europe, means that after decades of a disastrous open-border policy, Europe is now adopting and applying Trump-style mass deportations of illegal immigrants to try to preserve national and cultural identity in some of the most impacted cities and communities across the continent. On the back of this, Germany has already announced that they will be relocating some 800,000 people from Syria back to their homeland over the next four years. This is particularly ironic considering that it was German Chancellor Angela Merkel who caused the whole illegal immigrant flood in the first place! While most people are fixating on the deportation implications of this, the real story is the growing political influence of the new emerging populist centre and right-leaning political parties in Europe. For the first time ever, they are finally coordinating and making their political priorities felt right on the voting-floor of the EU Parliament. The times are certainly changing…

How to Avoid the Emergency Room:
How Chinese Medicine Views Hypertension
By Dr. Joanny Liu, TCMD, B.Eng(Civil). Chinese Medicine and Resilience specialist,
CHA member, Harvard speaker and bestselling author
I’ll say it again: You’ve got to find the real cause of a problem whether it be health or something else before you explore a solution so that you do the RIGHT thing AND get the outcome you want! I’ll also say upfront what I said to my dad’s doctor when he pushed back hard on decreasing the dosage of hypertension drug, amiLODIpine for my father. I told him that he studied disease; I studied healing. Then I went silent and let it sink in.
The ancient Chinese didn’t know about high blood pressure, since they didn’t have a mechanical way to measure it. However, since blood pressure is about circulation and the heart, they definitely knew what they’re about. They also knew what the pathological conditions are that would harm them.
In my practice some of my clients came to me because they know they’re not feeling well but their doctors only have three strategies (that they don’t want): drugs or surgery or a combination of the two. And they want you on the most harmful drugs for the rest of your life.
What if you don’t want drugs? People used to make fun of men because so many didn’t like visiting their doctors. They said they didn’t like taking pills. Maybe they had the right idea after all! Many of my clients wanted to get off their drugs.
“One Disease, Many Causes; One Cause, Many Diseases”
This is is a famous idiom in Chinese medicine. It covers the mental/emotional and physical causes of disease. Among other things, it makes you aware that there are real causes! How often have you heard them admit that they don’t know what causes a disease? BUT they’ll still treat you. That’s NEITHER scientific nor responsible. In reality it’s a guessing game which can really really hurt you if they’re wrong! I have too many stories of bad, real bad mistakes.
Chinese medicine teaches us to observe and we look at your face, your eyes, the way you walk, stand, speak, etc, etc. We ask a lot of questions. That’s how we diagnose you with our particular set of terminology, not Western terminology where a diagnosis is a mere description/label of whatever ails you.
From these, I create an emotional profile for each client because we are emotional beings. Our outward appearance often mirrors the inner state. We spend unhurried time with you and charge by the hour for the service you receive. But the diagnosis is the IMPORTANT part because it tells us WHY you’re not feeling well, whereby the treatment falls right out, and we can then solve the problem. YOU get the desired outcome. Recovery. Health. You’re Not on Drugs for the Rest of Your Life.
You know, when you tell people that you’re not on any pharmaceutical drugs, they are shocked! Imagine that. I’m like that. So is my husband. Some of my friends, too. I came to realize that a diagnosis from Chinese medicine tells you which parts of your mental/emotional state is causing you to be sick. And it doesn’t matter what the western diagnosis is – be it a simple cold or flu or cancer.
It’s time to understand that whatever you’re experiencing, it’s time to spend the time to reflect on your life. It’s time to take care of yourself. It’s time to do the inner work to understand WHY this is happening to you. And then ACCEPT the guidance and strategies to promote and achieve the cure.
When you begin this process with something not life-threatening, and practice it over and over, then you will be able to deal with the really bad illnesses. HOWEVER, practicing the process can also be PREVENTIVE. Nothing is inevitable.
When they tell you that 1 out of 3 people are going to get cancer, are you unconsciously or consciously accepting that? What are they trying to do to you? I used to think that Western medicine practitioners were bad psychologists, but I’ve come to the conclusion that they’re in fact screwing with your psyche when they announce these things!
One of my clients was a very angry man, who’d been sent to anger management, to no avail. He felt undermined by his employers. One manager even told him he was unimaginative and went on and on with assaults and insults to his talents. He felt insulted by a conventional psychologist when he sought help. He was angry and frustrated. When we first met, he told me it didn’t take much to set him off, for him to lash out.
He had a bright red face, a dark red tongue, a hard and wiry pulse. He was taking drugs for high blood pressure and acid reflux. He had quite the menu of complaints: insomnia, waking up at night to go to the bathroom, coffee addiction, junk food addiction, sore feet with some possible nerve damage, and acid reflux accompanied by a lot of discomfort and pain. After a bad experience with that psychologist he decided to see me after his brother-in-law referred him to me. He was fed up with blowing up over small things. He was suffering and tired of feeling angry all the time.
Over several sessions we got to work on the root of his anger. His face began to lighten up. He was able to stop and think before losing his temper. He became much calmer and more patient. His sense of humour came out. We weren’t working on his high blood pressure per se, but because he was dealing with the things that upset him and learned how to approach his feelings appropriately, he reported one day how his blood pressure had dropped to 128/80. It was the best he’d felt in a long time! We dove into the true causes.
When we dive in and the client is willing to be honest about how life is going, and details the things that are hurting them, that are causing distress, these are key to solving their problems. Because everything is solvable, if the willingness and the will are there. They learn new life-skills.
The reasons behind high blood pressure are individual and unique. What I described here may be completely different from you own life situation and is only meant for illustration of a successful result. In my client’s own words, he tells us what happened after a full load of 21 sessions:
“Let’s see now:
- Then: Lack of sleep, getting two or three hours solid at best often not sleeping more than four or five total. Now: sleeping five or six hours solid and then able to continue sleeping for whatever I have time for. Whew hew!
- Then: That old man stuff, getting up to use the washroom every few hours. Now: Might get up after that five or six hour solid sleep, might not.
- Then: A serious “stand in the coffee store line up half the day” type addiction to avoid time at work! No, I mean coffee! The other work thing was just a perk… no pun intended! Now: I have a cappuccino on the weekend with my wife for a little of that one on one quality time. PS. Joanny stuck needles in my ear for addiction on this one.
- Then: Sore feet, possibly plantar fasciitis in the left foot, and a long related nerve issue in the right. Now: Gone!
- Then: Fast food junky. Now: Healthier eating sprinkled with some occasional mistakes.
- Then: Acid reflux accompanied by a lot of discomfort and pain unless on drugs for the symptom. Now: Much lessened symptoms although not gone. Mostly because of the sprinkling in #5. I would say success on this is still in transition as I struggle for total control. But I am now off the drugs!”

The Future of Healthcare & Taking Back Control of Your Health
Alan Brough’s Interview on The ‘Activate & Illuminate’ Podcast
Last week, Canada Health Alliance Board Member, Alan Brough, was interviewed on the ‘Activate & Illuminate’ podcast.
Speaking about this interview, the podcast host Melanie Wakelin said, “This week I’m joined by Alan Brough, co-owner of ReVitalife Wellness and Executive Director of Canada Health Alliance, for a powerful conversation about the current state of healthcare, personal responsibility, and what it truly means to take control of your health in 2026. This episode is thought-provoking, empowering, and deeply relevant to the world we’re living in today.
From his early life experiences in Africa to his work within Canada’s healthcare space, Alan brings a grounded and compassionate perspective to a system that many people feel overwhelmed by. This conversation explores not only the challenges within modern healthcare, but also the opportunity for individuals to reconnect with their own agency, awareness, and decision-making.
In this episode we explore:
- The current realities and growing challenges within Canada’s healthcare system.
- Alan’s journey from marketing into healthcare advocacy and wellness.
- Why so many people feel disconnected, overwhelmed, and uncertain about their health.
- The concept of “SelfCare Is Healthcare” and what that really means.
- Alternative and integrative approaches to supporting overall well-being.
- The impact of fear-based messaging, media, and societal influence on mental health.
- The importance of questioning narratives and seeking second opinions.
- Trust, medical errors, and navigating personal healthcare decisions.
- The role of empathy, connection, and ethics in modern medicine.
- Why hope, curiosity, and critical thinking are essential in today’s world.
One of the key themes in this conversation is exploring alternative approaches to health and healing — including technologies and modalities that aim to support the body beyond conventional systems. This episode is not about rejecting healthcare — it’s about becoming an active participant in your own well-being. It’s a reminder that:
- You are not powerless when it comes to your health.
- One answer is not the only answer.
- And, real change begins with awareness and personal responsibility.

The World Council For Health Reveals What Is Really Going On With The Recent Meningitis Outbreak In The UK
The recent meningitis outbreak in the UK has prompted a surge of panicked headlines. However, having watched all these scary, new, potential pandemics surging all over the world over the last two or three years, we at Canada Health Alliance have not deemed it necessary to comment on this, as the playbook of trying to engineer public panic has become so predictable.
Sure enough, according to an update by the World Council For Health issued a couple of days ago, once again it appears that the early case numbers of this UK outbreak may have been, “Inflated by misclassification, false positives, and the fact that many people might be carrying the bacteria ‘asymptomatically’.” Now, where have we heard that before… ?
When you dig a little deeper, the playbook is revealed. Why were there less deaths from meningitis in England in 2023-2024 compared to adjacent years? What is Exercise Pegasus and why is it relevant? When is one coincidence too many? Find out more about the recent UK ‘outbreak’ by visiting these two very informative websites:

May 29 to 31, 2026 – The Better Way Conference, hosted by the World Council for Health. This year, this highly acclaimed educational conference will be held in Rhode Island, USA. For decades we’ve been told to trust systems that many now recognize are deeply flawed – systems where scientific debate is often shut down, where financial incentives shape treatment decisions, and where prevention and patient empowerment take a back seat to lifelong disease management. That’s why the Better Way Conference will be such an important landmark event. This is not just another health conference. It’s a gathering of some of the most courageous thinkers, doctors, scientists, and advocates who are working to create the next era of healthcare. For more information and to get your early-bird tickets, which are still on sale, visit the website at: https://www.betterwayconference.org
