Executive Director’s Message

This week’s newsletter is more of an uplifting ‘good news’ edition, which I’m sure we all need after all the recent ups and downs we have been through.

Our first feature article is something I started writing originally for this E.D.’s Message. I was looking at how the pendulum is finally beginning to swing in our favour and how I believe the tide is turning. Predictably I got so carried away with it, that I felt it should be a free-standing article on its own.

This is followed by an article talking about the new public / private healthcare model that Alberta is rolling out with their new Bill 11 which I think could be transformational and will certainly reduce medical wait times in Alberta. It is also likely to attract more healthcare professionals to the province, especially doctors and surgeons. Hopefully, once people start to appreciate how successful it is, I’m hoping it will become the model that other provinces start to adopt as well.
