Executive Director’s Message

This week I am very pleased to share some exciting developments within Canada Health Alliance.

As a volunteer-run organization, our ability to design and take on projects, especially on the grand scale that we want, is really constrained by the calibre and number of our volunteers. The sad reality of this is that we have been forced to shelve certain projects such as our practitioner directory and our verification project.

But, fortunately, over the last year or two, we have been able to build a core of dedicated and highly motivated people who are not just running our CHA Board of Directors, but are also taking on and driving our projects forward.

And this week one of those projects, being our new website, is about to be launched. It has been a major undertaking, but it will be well worth the effort. As detailed in the short article below, finally we will have the newsletter and article archive we have all been wanting. We will also have an online payment gateway that will enable the option of monthly instalment payments for annual CHA memberships. Plus, we will be automating our membership database which will guarantee timely membership renewal notifications.

In addition to the new website, we have also been putting a lot of focus and resources into improving our social media channels. This means that we will be a lot more active and engaging on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Telegram and Librti. You can follow us on these platforms at:

https://www.facebook.com/canadahealthalliance

https://www.instagram.com/canadahealthalliance

https://t.me/CanadaHealthAlliance

https://librti.com/CanadaHealthAlliance

Already, over the last few weeks, we have seen a lot more video content on our social media. For example, a week or so ago we posted a video ‘walk through the forest’ taken at the Cheakamus Conference Centre where we will be hosting the SelfCare is Healthcare conference in April. That alone was enough to make me want to buy tickets to that highly-anticipated 3-day event! 🙂 You can watch the latest video clip that went up on Thursday at https://www.facebook.com/reel/26105474839106654

Talking of video content, I am also going to be making some changes to the delivery of our newsletter content over the next few weeks. Many people have been lamenting the fact that the newsletter is quite long, and they simply don’t have the time to read it all. So, given how labour intensive it is to publish on a weekly basis, we are looking at reducing the frequency of the newsletter to bi-weekly (i.e. every second Saturday), and replacing those editions with video messages posted onto social media.

This means that I will now be vlogging as well! Hopefully, through this, you will get to know me better, you will have more time to read the newsletter, and we will have a lot more unique content on our social channels for you to share. Let me know what you think of the idea.

With all this, I am pleased to see that CHA is really growing and maturing, and that is largely due to our incredible volunteers, and, of course, all your help and support. Many of you not only pay for your annual membership, but also make financial donations to CHA which, honestly, has kept us going through these exciting times.

Although these are indeed “exciting times,” we are moving forward to fully embrace them. Thank you, as always, for helping and supporting us in this endeavour.

Sincerely,

Alan Brough

Quote of the Week

“First we overlook evil. Then we permit evil. Then we legalize evil. Then we promote evil. Then we celebrate evil. Then we persecute those who still call it evil.”

Father Dwight Longnecker

Wins of the Week

There have been a lot of wins this last week, and a good number coming out of Canada for a change! 🙂 Here is just a handful of them to boost our optimism.

1) A great win for Canadians this week was the decision on Monday to delay the passage of Bill C-9, the infamous hate speech / censorship bill. As Member of Parliament Andrew Lawton noted when announcing this good news, last week alone there were almost 40,000 registered calls made imploring politicians from across the country to vote against Bill C-9. “This is very likely the largest grassroots issue-based phone calling campaign in Canadian history,” Lawton said. Once again it proves that concerted effort and unified action still does make a difference. Speaking about this win, Christine Van Geyn, the Litigation Director for the Canadian Constitution Foundation said, “Shelving this proposed legislation is an important step toward preserving free expression in Canada, and a vindication of the CCF’s warnings to Parliament that the bill posed serious threats to Constitutionally-protected speech. From the start, Bill C-9 was deeply flawed. It would have expanded criminal law into the realm of ordinary expression, lowered the threshold for criminal speech, and stripped away longstanding safeguards, including protections for good-faith religious belief.” However, we do need to remember that this egregious Bill is only paused, not killed, so no doubt there will be more lobbying for us to do before it is finally dispatched.

2) In Alberta, after 4 years of imprisonment, earlier this week Coutts protester, Anthony Olienick, was granted bail pending results of his appeal. He is the last of the famous ‘Coutts Four’ who was still behind bars for his role in the Coutts Border Blockade back in 2022 at the height of the Trucker Convoy showdown in Ottawa.

3) In last week’s newsletter we spoke about the Liberal’s gun confiscation program and how that was adding to everyone’s tension. This week we can report that the growing revolt against the Federal government’s firearm “compensation” program now includes at least 15 police forces, including provincial and territorial, that have refused to enforce the controversial gun grab. So much for their bullying buster just a week ago!

4) Mathieu Lemay, an employee of Canada’s Department of Public Safety who was suspended for refusing to take the Covid shot as a condition to work, has won back pay and $5,000 after an adjudicator ruled in his favour. The $5,000 is tokenary, but the back-pay is significant, and – more importantly – this ruling for Mr. Lemay sets a legal precedent for the thousands of other people who are still fighting for compensation and apology for refusing to take the experimental Covid shots.

5) In a development as symbolic as it is strategic, Moderna has publicly scaled back its investment in vaccine development, citing a regulatory climate that no longer guarantees impunity. The announcement came during a recent interview with Bloomberg TV in which Moderna CEO, Stéphane Bancel, cited mounting “U.S. backlash” as a primary factor. The pharmaceutical giant that once stood at the vanguard of the COVID-19 mRNA era now retreats from regulatory scientific standards and legal scrutiny. Far from a neutral financial decision, Moderna’s withdrawal should be understood as the outcome of an unprecedented convergence: long-overdue regulatory reform, critical academic re-evaluations of trial data, public awareness of bias and misconduct and a collapse in institutional trust.

6) A bill that would have allowed pesticide and herbicide companies such as Bayer—the maker of Roundup—to evade all responsibility should its products cause people harm was withdrawn this week as a result of citizen action. “This bill is not just about glyphosate: it applies to over 57,000 pesticide products and all future pesticides, including chemicals linked to cancer, Parkinson’s disease, endocrine disruption, infertility, and impaired sexual development.”

If you have any personal, local or national wins that you think we should share and celebrate please email then to me at alan.brough@canadahealthalliance.org

Cellphone Radiation Causes Abnormal Blood Clumping in Just 5 Minutes, Study Finds

By Suzanne Burdick, Ph.D. as published in The Defender, the Children’s Health Defence newsletter

A healthy woman’s blood cells formed abnormal clumps after just five minutes of having an idle cellphone placed on her leg. Yes, that’s an IDLE phone that wasn’t even being used! The same thing happened when researchers held the cellphone an inch away from the woman’s body, according to a peer-reviewed study published in Environment: Science and Policy for Sustainable Development.

Using ultrasound, the researchers showed that the woman’s blood cells developed a rouleaux formation, an abnormal red blood cell pattern in which the cells stack together in long rows like piles of coins, according to MyHematology.com.

Dr. Robert Brown, the study’s author, said that although the impact of rouleaux formation on health is not well understood, it’s “not without potential health consequences.”

Brown is a diagnostic radiologist with more than 30 years of experience and the vice president of Scientific Research and Clinical Affairs for the Environmental Health Trust (EHT). He said: “Because of the impact on gas exchange and increased blood viscosity due to clumping, it is possible rouleaux could account for the unusual uptick in once-uncommon disease processes and disorders increasing in our society over the past few decades, including hypertension, obesity, diabetes and strokes, particularly in the younger population, and others.”

According to Brown, the study is key to educating the medical community on how wireless radiation affects a person’s biological functioning.

“If we want to see a change in government regulations and a decrease in the indiscriminate usage of wireless technology, the allopathic medical community needs to become knowledgeable of the health effects of wireless communication radiation,” Brown said. “I believe this study has cracked the proverbial egg.”

Devra Davis, Ph.D., MPH, a toxicologist and epidemiologist who is founder and president emerita of the EHT, said, “This finding of clumping in the blood after only five minutes of direct cellphone exposure should give pause to all who keep phones close to their bodies.”

The EHT is a nonprofit research and education group focused on the effects of wireless radiation.

For the data in this study, Brown and his colleague, Barbara Biebrich, an ultrasound technologist, did an initial experiment including an ultrasound scan of the leg vein of a 62-year-old asymptomatic woman with no history of allergy, blood disorder or systemic disease.

Next, they placed an idle Apple iPhone XR cellphone on the back of her knee for five minutes. The phone was connected to AT&T’s mobile network with its Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular antennas turned on. However, the phone didn’t make calls or send texts, or receive calls or texts, while placed on the back of her knee.

After five minutes, the researchers did another ultrasound. The second ultrasound showed that cellphone radiation caused the blood cells in the woman’s popliteal vein, located behind the knee, to clump in rouleaux formation.

Brown and Biebrich repeated their experiment with the same woman multiple times over three months. “Each time, we encountered the same results,” Brown wrote.

On one occasion, the woman’s blood cells were already in rouleaux formation before having the cellphone placed on her knee for five minutes.

“Although we were initially perplexed,” Brown wrote, “I asked the participant where she had kept her cellphone just before the scan, and she replied that it had been in her pocket.”

The researchers also altered the experiment by placing the cellphone an inch away from the woman’s skin, rather than placing it directly on her body. Again, they waited five minutes.

“She went into rouleaux, even with the cellphone exposure an inch away,” Brown wrote.

“By demonstrating rouleaux in a deep leg vein, the study confirms that the penetration and associated physiological effects of wireless radiation are not limited to the first few millimeters of skin, but do, in fact, occur deeper in the body,” Brown said.

This finding has “significant implications for safety,” he said.

The Federal Communications Commission’s safety exposure limits for wireless radiation are based on the assumption that the radiation can harm human health only at levels high enough to heat human tissue. Cellphones emit radiation at levels lower than that.

Many scientists, including Brown, say there’s evidence that non-thermal levels of wireless radiation may negatively affect human biology.

The study provides a “visible manifestation” that cellphone radiation at non-thermal levels has biological effects.

The study didn’t clarify what specific range of cellphone radiation frequencies, such as 4G or 5G, caused the blood to clump.

The cellphone was idle and not actively engaging a 4G or 5G network, beyond the usual “handshaking” communication that cellphones do with cell towers, Brown said.

CONCUSSION & THE OMEGA-3 PROTOCOL
Read This Because There’s A 20% Chance You’ll Get A Concussion This Year!

By Bill Code MD

Almost all of us have bumped our brain or had someone we care about experience this. Today, we understand a major nutrition tool, Omega-3 fish oil, can assist recovery – even from coma – or, better still, it can prevent the injury from being as severe in the first place.

I spoke of the benefits of extra oxygen assisting concussion recovery in my 2019 book Solving the Brain Puzzle. I recently read the book: When Brains Collide by Michael D Lewis MD. His secondary title for the book was “What every athlete and parent should know about the prevention and treatment of concussions and head injuries.” In this short article I will endeavour to outline the key concepts from the above book and the additional pieces that I have learned since the writing of my 2019 book.

To begin, concussion, or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), is now understood to occur even from a head bump with or without a loss of consciousness. In addition, the regular symptoms may occur immediately or days or even one to two weeks later. This knowledge will wisely expand your enthusiasm for the possibility of omega-3 nutrition treatment.

We now understand injury to the brain from concussion as a two step process. The first step is literally a bruise to the tissues much like a visibly bruised knee. The second is the bruise triggering a biochemical cascade or ‘waterfall of events’ that can happen immediately, but more likely several hours later. You could think of this as a smouldering small fire which in time bursts into flame. The flames are full bore or excess inflammation, which comprises redness, heat, swelling and pain or loss of function. This is extra critical as the brain is in a closed box and therefore swelling is a major factor in the headache experienced.

Secondary to the film “Concussion” starring Will Smith and Alex Baldwin, most of us focus on football as in the National Football League type. This is over simplified on our part. We now realize that  most sports are at risk. These include: ice hockey, especially in the Canadian context, rugby, soccer, wrestling, cycling, skateboarding, horseback riding, baseball, lacrosse and even playgrounds for younger kids. Another critical point is that young women athletes are even more at risk than boys or young men, although all groups are potentially at risk from motor vehicle accidents or simple falls. In the elderly, falls are the reason for 80% of their concussions.

In summary, the latest understood and employed therapy for concussions is ingesting omega-3 fish oils which contain both EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) which are long-chain omega-3 fatty acids essential for human health, primarily found in fatty fish and algae. These are typically in a liquid or gel capsule form. This is where the “omega-3 protocol” initiated by Michael D Lewis MD prior to his book of 2016 fits in.

He outlines that there are about four and a half million concussions every year in North America. Of these, nearly 2 million are children aged 19 years or younger. This is definitely a crisis.

Severe concussions can often be assisted by better nutrition, even through a feeding tube, if need be. The overall goal is 5,000 milligrams of combined EPA and DHA in fish oil three times a day for a total of 15,000 milligrams per day. Yes, this is above the regularly suggested amount by the FDA of 5,000 milligrams per day. However, you need the extra amount to reverse the inflammatory cascade. In coma, you will use these 5,000 milligrams  three times a day until a response. Once a response occurs then you would reduce it to 5,000 milligrams twice a day for a week and then further reduce to 5,000 milligrams per day ongoing. If the client regresses, go back up a level of dose until recovery returns.

In mild or moderate TBI  or concussion, which is of course not coma, then, as per the above, the 5,000 milligrams of EPA and DHA three times a day are suggested for a week. Then it is suggested 5,000 milligrams of EPA and DHA twice a day for a week and then ongoing with 5,000 milligrams of EPA and DHA daily.

I am excited to report that prevention is also a key possibility.

To this end, 5,000 milligrams of EPA and DHA per day ongoing is probably very useful in sports or at risk individuals such as the elderly. For example, I am 72 years old with the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, and I will take Omega-3s for the rest of my life, by choice. My current favourite is Balanced Oil by Zinzino. However, my earlier choices were Nordic Naturals and NAKA fish oils.

If you want to learn more of this very important topic I refer you to:

WHEN BRAINS COLLIDE:
What Every Athlete and Parent Should Know About the Prevention and Treatment of Concussions and Head Injuries

By Micheal D. Lewis MD

There is a 20% chance that you or someone close to you will suffer a concussion this year. Whether they are in a car accident, fall off their bike, or suffer a fall on the ice during hockey practice, over 30% of such concussions will lead to long-term, potentially permanent disability. Even worse, many of these concussions are mild and go unnoticed and untreated.

However, whether you are a concerned parent or an athlete worried about that recent or long-ago head injury, there is good news. The proper utilization of Omega-3 fatty acids and their nutritional potential to feed and cultivate the brain’s biochemical environment can facilitate the concussion healing process, relieve symptoms without pharmaceuticals, and increase the chance of a happy and healthy future.

Culminating a career spanning over three decades in the U.S. Army, Dr. Michael Lewis developed The Omega-3 Protocol, the military-grade brain injury treatment process for dealing with the concussive dangers of everyday life. Concussions are not always preventable, but they are treatable. Find out how to give yourself or your loved one the best chance at recovery from brain injuries—large or small—by learning everything about, and becoming ready to apply, The Omega-3 Protocol today.
